about

The song is a dystopian vision, delivered by a protagonist who returns to Newcastle after a long absence only to find that the once vibrant Ouseburn Valley creative hub has been abandoned. That "flax chimney" is the site of the legendary Cluny music venue (a former cotton mill). For us as musicians, The Cluny is the artistic heart of the Ouseburn; if it were ever to fall silent, if the vicious developments that are encroaching upon it were to reach their conclusion, the heartbeat of the city, the vitality of our home would be no more.

"Epic, huge sounding and has a lot going on. This is seriously good" – Local Sound Focus
"It’s hard to ignore the larger than life sound of Twist Helix" – Words For Music
"PULSE is akin to Depeche Mode‘s earlier tinkering with the darkside, Bea Garcia Cisneros’ vocals are the real deal Dave Gahan gone bad and possibly never coming back, accompanied only by maidens Siouxsie Sioux and Dolores O’Riordan" – Deadly Music!
"This three piece band produce thought-provoking female fronted electropop that is so engaging that we fell in love with as soon as heard it" – Electronic North
"Gorgeous tune" – Caesar Live N Loud
"Twist Helix have established a reputation for their signature “sparkling dance-rock” sound" – Little Indie Blogs

LYRICS

Hey it's been a while since I've heard its heart.

Silence no beating here now.
Now that pulse has changed these veins feel numb.

Silence from flax chimney bough,
now that pulse has changed these veins feel numb.

All I can see is dust.

Hey it's been a while since I've heard its heart.
